I Got "THE CALL!" (No, not that one...)

Remember my post...The Writing's in the Toilet (June 17th):

At no point in my conscious thoughts would I have connected writing with
potty training. Yes, I'm still in the throws of potty training the stubborn
youngest.
Tanya posted yesterday that her daughter is FINALLY fully trained--no more pull ups for her! I left this message on her blog. I hadn't planned to elaborate past the first sentence...the words just came and I thought them worth a post all on their own.

Congratulations on the Potty Training. I'm happy for you...it's
just like when another struggling author finally gets her contract while you
are still struggling away. You're happy for them, envy them, want to throw
dagger at them, curse, fret and do the why-not-me pitty party, then buck up,
pull yourself back together with a renewed determination to work hard and
one day, yes, one day it will be your turn to get THE CALL..."Mommy, I went potty all by myself!"**sigh** I'm still waiting for it so if you get a sharp twinge in
your back it's just me and won't last but a dagger or two before I'm off to
the next step of the cycle. My day will come...as one friend said, "You've
never seen acollege student in diapers have you?"

Well, through all the excitement this past week I forgot to tell you all about the best call of all..."Mommy, I went potty all by myself!" YAAAAAAA!!!!

We've even started practicing wearing 'tighty whities' at home this week. Can I hear a big YIPEE!!!

My best friend will be spending the weekend with us. Let's just say she's still single so 10am is her usual holiday wake-up time **snort** oh is she in for a big surprise LOL. I think the oldest came into our room around 5:30 this morning.

Row, row, row, your boat....

Odds and Ends for an Odd Week.

Well, I have survived my first year of school...or rather my son's first year of school. He finished yesterday with a teddy-bear picnic in the park with his class...oh to be five again! :)

In light of all the buzz happening lately I've created a real website with my own dot com name and everything. Please, have a looksey HERE and let me know what you think. Eventually, I'll figure out how to match the blog up. B)

I’ll be heading over to the The Wild Rose Press blog to put a post up there today as well. If any one is interested you can find it HERE.

Oh, did I mention my book is up? *g* You can buy it HERE.

What else? What else? Um, we’ll be hitting the waterfront on Saturday for the Canada Day festivities followed by a bonfire at my parent’s place. It’s a tradition as are the fresh strawberries with chocolate (usually Toblerone) fondue...is your mouth watering yet? I might have to put Richard Simmons up for the guest celebrity spinner on Monday’s episode of ESCAPE the Mondayn just to get rid of all the weight I’ll gain this weekend. Christmas and Canada Day are our big eat-whatever-you-want-times...Thank God they are six months apart!!

And lastly I want to thank each and every one of you for all the wonderful support you've given me. Not just this week but every week. Thank you.

Next week I hope to post a promo contest for my story...I'm thinking maybe a row-row-row your boat kinda thing? Saying "what?" to yourself? Stay tuned to find out...

On sale now at The Wild Rose Press

It's short and sweet and just waiting there for you to read. Stay tuned because I will be holding a contest and a few promo things once I do some brainstorming tonight.

ESCAPE the Mondayn: Episode #6

Hello and welcome to the Canadian episode of ESCAPE THE MONDAYN, a weekly game show found only on the Sensibly Insane Channel. I’m your host Stacy Holmes. With our Canada day coming up at the end of the week I thought it only fitting I wear a replica of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's dress, known as the "Maple Leaf of Canada dress," which she wore on October 14, 1957 for a state banquet and reception at Rideau Hall, the Governor General of Canada's official residence.

For new contestants just joining us, here's how our game works: Most people need an escape from the mundane and especially from Mondays so I will present an escape and it will be your job to tell me what you are doing.

Here’s the bonus: A random draw will be made at the end of the episode and one lucky contestant will win a gift from the prize wheel!

Please welcome our celebrity guest spinner for today. Making Canada proud on the big screen...Keanu Reeves!

Thank you for inviting me today, Stace. I'm proud to be here on the Canadian episode.

And we are awfully proud to have you here. As you know, one of the main rules of the game is uh, **flicks finger towards his shirt with sly smile** shirts off sweetie.

Oh, yeah, sure. No problem.

Thank you very much. Now, looks like we're ready to start. Keanu, why don't you grab a hold of the prize wheel there and give us a little speed.

**gives that boyish grin and a collective sigh goes up amongst the audience** Sure. ....tickety-tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety....tickety...tick.

And what will our contestants be playing for today?

The prize wheel landed on a Canadian Souvenir Pack.

Perfect! Oh, but sorry ladies, **chuckles** Keanu isn't one of the souvenirs.

Ready everyone? Here's your escape:

You're visiting Toronto for the Canada Day weekend. It was an unplanned, spur of the moment trip and you will be meeting friends at the lakefront tomorrow for fun, flirting, and fireworks. All the hotels are booked all over town but you are lucky enough to find a Comfort Inn with a Vacancy sign. You think yourself lucky because they only have one room left. Tired, you haul your weekender luggage to the room and unlock the door. The moment you close the door behind you, you hear the shower starting....FREEZE.

Let yourself dream, let yourself escape and tell me what happens next. Who's in the shower? What do you do?

Remember, you don't need to be a writer, you don't need to be a reader, heck, you don't even need to be sane if you don't want to be. Give me two lines or give me twenty, it doesn't matter. Don't hold back...let yourself escape! This is a fun game all about you so don't be shy, don't be a lurker, just dive in and...
Note: Anyone can play so come on you lurkers have a go at it. Just remember to leave your name on the comments so you can be put into the random draw from the prize wheel. Don't forget to come back and check the day after the episode to see who wins!

The Universe Evens Out

First, from the bottom of my heart, let me thank you all for the wonderful support of my good news from yesterday! Celebrating is nothing if you can't do it with your friends.

It hit me just this evening while I was going over some old blogs that the fickle Universe truly does even out in it's own sweet time.

For those who have been visiting here for a while, you know that I was going through an extremely rough spot there for a number of months. It affected me both physically and mentally and I thought I'd never get out from under that dark cloud. The funny thing is, is that I don't even remember the cloud leaving. Just one day, it was gone and the sun was shining again. I feel kind of guilty because I didn't realize it until tonight. At some point over the past month, the cloud just evaporated as though it never existed at all and in its place left a beautiful rainbow. Almost like the Universe said, "Okay, we've played with you enough, here's your reward." And that reward was feeling better, thinking better, seeing things better, and now even achieving things better like reaching 40K, new ideas popping up out of nowhere, and the two acceptances yesterday.

It's an odd humbling feeling when thought of in these terms and I just wanted it to be known that I am very thankful that the cloud is gone and the rainbow is before me.

So, nobody give up on anything whether it is your writing, your health, your hopes, or your dreams because one day the Universe will open up and send you a rainbow. I believe it whole heartedly.

Who are the People in Your Neighborhood...La-La-La, La-La

Despite my poor Sesame Street rendition for the title, let's think about this....

My year anniversary of blogging is just about here and things have come up like blogging 'friends', forums that equal 'communities', 'sister' writers and many other variations which lead to the truth that we are all indeed a neighborhood of sorts. Sure, we don't go and borrow a cup of sugar but we do borrow advice, suggestions, and a cup or two of cyber chocolate. We commiserate with each other, support, lend a hand, and celebrate with each other. We have schools where we learn (online workshops, mentoring from our peers), we have libraries (tons of reference material and people to ask), an abundance of retail outlets from small independants to big box (or book) stores, police stations (overseers of forums), and hospitals (crit groups for emergency help when we panic or need major surgery on a ms). There are churches for our inspirational writers and a few dark alleyways for our mystery or paranormal writers. And don't forget the post office (e-mails or to buy stamps). We couldn't get anything out without those!

And what would a community be without houses? We welcome new neighbors who move in next door and miss those that move away. Choice of genre's only add to the colour of the neighborhood. From erotic to sweet, from women's fiction to technical books, from contemporary to paranormal and fantasy, from psy-fi to inspirational, from historical to modern day.

This neighbor writes contemporary and paranormal...just for fun, and to appreciate all our neighbors, tell us again what genre of writing you do and how it's coming along.

Aurora's Passion

Okay, one problem from the other day solved. A Theory of Love won the first round of The Manuscript Wars and is now wisking it's way through cyberspace to an e-publisher's desk. Fingers crossed.

* * * * * * *

Seriously, how am I supposed to get any writing done with all these good stories to indulge myself in? Add this one to that summer reading list people!

Aurora's Passion

Kris Anderssen is having a bad week. She lost her dream job and her lover on the same day and is in danger of losing her swanky New York apartment. She's regrouping by spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Aurora, her hometown. It's anything but relaxing. Her grandmother won't stop talking about the Northern Lights, the goddess Freya, and Norwegian folklore. Plus, Kris is more conflicted than ever, finding herself caught in a love triangle between her hot former boyfriend and her sexy best friend. She has feelings for each man; how can she possibly choose between them?

You can find Bebe's book at Freya's Bower.

Invaded Again....and a 'Tourist Attraction'

Oh crap, just when you think you are headed somewhere....

I know you've all been there because I've read your own woes upon various blogs. That maelstrom of ideas that invade you out of knowhere.

Things are going great, you are working on a particular piece, making headway, looking forward to the movement and out of nowhere BAM! A new idea hits. Worse yet, it hits right when you are deciding whether to put the story aside for a day or two to revise another project (or two). Now, suddenly you go from one day of one piece and everything is perky to having several pieces and a brand spanking idea thrown in just for the universe's twisted pleasure. What do you do? You're pulled in five-hundred different ways. Do this...no do that....no, no, this one....no pick me! pick me!...hey, what about me, we were going great there....so what, I'm more important...no, no, no, they're too long pick me, I'm faster....but I'm new and exciting and I know you wanna...oops, voices in my head kinda leaked out there for a moment.

So what do I do? What do I do? What do I do? **shrugs** The usual I guess--wait till one idea beats the crap out of the others. On your mark....get set....go! Let the Manuscript Wars begin! Last story standing gets written!

* * * * * *

And for the second, more sane part of the blog (scarey to think my blog page title isn't just a fun name isn't it?) I need you all to make note of this title...

Tourist Attraction
By
Shelli Stevens

Melanie Kemble goes to Hawaii with two major goals. To get a tan, and to have a fling.

Then things take a twist--or at least her ankle does--and she finds herself in the care of a sexy doctor. One who’s more than willing to show her his bedside manner.

When she realizes her feelings for Brian go way beyond the boundaries of a fling, Melanie panics and flees.

But Brian isn’t finished with her just yet, and just how far will he go to get his sexy little tourist back?

A fast, fun, flirty, and oh so sexy read, this, my friends, is a book you don't want to miss! I had the pleasure of reading it yesterday and Tourist Attraction is definately one to add to your list of summer must reads!

ESCAPE the Mondayn: Episode #5

Thank you for joining us for another episode of ESCAPE the Mondayn, the Sensibly Insane Channel's weekly game show where I give you an escape and you tell me what happens next. I'm your host, Stacy Holmes and I'm wearing a replica of Kate Hudson's dress in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days because I feel all sunny inside and summer is only a few days away!

Speaking of summer, why not put your hands together and give a big round of applause for our guest celebrity spinner. This man makes our days rock and our nights hot with sultry power ballads, one of the bad boys of summer himself...Jon Bon Jovi!

Thanks **as he takes off his black T-shirt**

No, no, no, thank you for joining us. And in honour of the recent weekend, I must add that not only are you a boy of summer but also a studly father of four.

You bet **proud smile that pulls up one corner of his lips and causes several of the women (and one male) stage hands to swoon towards him**

You sure do have a magnetic personality there Jon. **uses cue cards to fan herself**

Well, before we lose the rest of the staff, why don't we go ahead and start the game. Jon, will you give us a spin and tell our audience what one lucky contestant will win from the prize wheel today.

Sure...tickety-tickety-tickety-tickety...tickety-tickety-tickety...tickety-tickety....tickety...tick. It's a 12 piece Magnetic Photo Frame Set.

Didn't I tell you you had a magnetic personality. This prize will be great to brighten up the kiddie pictures on the fridges and filing cabinets.

Alright then, here is your escape:

You won an all expense paid trip to New York city. You decide to make it a girls weekend away and take your best friend. You are both looking hot in sultry cocktail dresses and are ready to hit the hotspots for the night. You get into the elevator and press the button but hear a call from down the hall for you to hold it. Being in a good mood, you do and...FREEZE.

Let yourself dream, let yourself escape and tell me what happens next. Who gets on the elevator? Are there two? Where do you go?

Give me two lines or give me twenty, it doesn't matter. Don't hold back...let yourself escape! Remember, you don't need to be a writer, you don't need to be a reader, heck, you don't even need to be sane if you don't want to be. This is a fun game all about you so don't be shy, don't be a lurker, just dive in and...

Note: Anyone can play so come on you lurkers have a go at it. But just remember to leave your name on the comment so you can be put into the random draw from the prize wheel then check after the episode to see who wins!

The Anatomy of a Story

Which anatomical part of a story do you like best?

The brain: The ideas that come to you, hints of a prospective, utterly fabulous story?

The skeleton: Outlining the base of the story, slowly laying the foundation piece by piece from the jumbled collection of napkins, gum wrappers, and notebooks you might have been using?

The muscle: Starting that first draft where the characters really start to develop, the conflicts become stronger, and the meat of the story is there getting stronger every day?

The flesh: Revisions where you are fleshing out all the chapters, pulling the whole together in one fluid form?

I'm a bit of the brain and skeleton myself. I loved getting new ideas, that zing of creativity then piecing my notes together, coming up with little snippits, one liners, or a sudden epiphany that would really bring a whole other aspect to the story. Building the story one scrap of paper at a time until I had a sketch of the whole, an inkling of what it could really be.

So, which anatomical part of a story do you like best?

Interview

Earlier in the week, Mary had an interview with herself and suggested others have a go at it. So here's me interviewing me:

1. When the well runs dry, how do you recharge your creative spark?

Get away from it. I have the best ideas when I’m nowhere near my computer or not able to write things down. When I don’t focus on the work, I understand it better. I know, makes no sense to me either.

2. What is your motto?

For Safety Sake. It doesn’t have much to do with writing. I’m always double checking the diaper bag or adding extra clothes for a day trip just in case, extra first aid kit, water on hot days etc. Then again, maybe it does. I constantly double and triple check my work, addresses where I’m sending thing, editor’s names etc to make sure I didn’t misspell anything or goof up.

3. What fictional character is most like the person you wish you were?

Pride and Prejudice’s Elizabeth Bennet. She spoke her mind and came out with witty comebacks at the drop of a hat. The first proposal scene is classic, well, I guess the whole book is but that's my favorite part.

4. The biggest enemy of creativity is....

Me. I’ll get the coolest idea or think an idea is great then sleep on it and all the doubts come a rollin’ in. If I could just get past my own self-doubt, I’d probably get a lot more done.

5. My best ideas come to me when I'm...

In a crowd who can see me talking to myself and laughing at my own replies. Not pretty.

6. What is your ideal work environment?

Actually, I work best with the kids playing close by. I know, another oddity but it’s like I can relax better because I know exactly where they are and what they are doing so it isn’t weighing on my mind.

7. What accomplishments are you most proud of?

After actually going through with childbirth...twice, it would have to be my two stories with The People’s Friend. I only wished my mother-in-law who introduced me to the magazine had lived long enough to see my stories in it.

8. No one is better than I am when it comes to...

Wasting time.

9. I still can't quite get the hang of....

Aerobics. Coordination is not my thing.

10. The only thing I know for sure about the creative process is...

It’s very unpredictable. What you start with and end with might have similarities but they won’t necessarily be the same thing. You also might have patches of pure genius then weeks of nothing but crap.

11. What was your first job?

Cashier at Kmart. Oh wait, I did have a paper route.

12. Earlier in your career, how did you deal with people who tried to discourage you from pursuing your dreams?

Not very well. I usually believed them and it took a long time for me to set their opinions aside and focus on what I wanted.

Congratulations Shelli! E-mail me (profile page) with your snail mail and I'll get your Daily Organizer in the mail.

Once again, thank you to all the contestants! We are still taking CELEBRITY REQUESTS for guest spinners so let me know what hunka-hunka-burnin'-love you'd like to see! And remember to come back next Monday for another episode of:

ESCAPE the Mondayn: Episode # 4

Hello and welcome to another episode of ESCAPE the Mondayn, a weekly game show found only on the Sensibly Insane Channel. I’m your host Stacy Holmes.

Here's how our show works: As a break from the mundane day you may be having, I will give you an escape. All you have to do is tell me what you are doing. Very simple.

Don’t forget, a random draw will be made at the end of the episode and one lucky contestant will win a gift from the prize wheel! Today I'm wearing a gown from the exclusive design house of DariusCordell.com because I wanted to look extra special for out guest celebrity spinner today. Please give a warm round of applause for...Matthew McConaughey.

**tips his cowboy hat** Hello Stacy. Wow, mighty nice dress.

Why, thank you Matthew. I'm very glad to see that your shirt is off and you are ready to go. My, my, my but what big golden-tanned arms you have.

**boyish grin** Thank you.

Oh, and I'm so sorry to hear about you and Penelope breaking up **slides smile and wink to the crowd** But I know the perfect remedie.

And what would that be?

You and me going out for drinks after the show.

**deeple chuckle as he ducks his head then roves his heated gaze back up the knock-out dress** You know what, that sounds like a great idea.

Excellent! Whew, is it a little hot in here today?

Well, we best get this show on the road. Matthew, why don't you take a hold of that wheel and give us a spin and tell our contestants what they could win while I take a moment to fan myself.

Alright then. Here we go ladies....tickety-tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety....tickety...tick...The prize wheel landed on a Daily Organizer.

Ahh yes. An organizer with a calender, address book, and notepad. Hmm, I have an extra one out in the back that I would be happy to give you for playing our game today Matthew. Here, I'll start it off by putting my number in it for you.

**Matthew McConaughey flashes his pearly whites and winks at me**

**Fanning myself with my notecards** Okay, with that taken care of let's see what our escape is for today. Ready everyone?

Here we go...

You are curled up on your couch watching your favorite T.V. show when all of a sudden there is a knock on the door. When you open it there is a delivery man standing there holding a clipboard. He has a package for you. Your brow raises in curiosity as you take the pen and sign his paperwork. Thanking you, he asks you to wait a moment and goes into the back of his van. He comes out wheeling a large 3ft by 4ft blue box up to your door....FREEZE.

Let yourself dream, let yourself escape and tell me what happens next. What's in the box? What do you do with it? Give me two lines or give me twenty, it doesn't matter. Don’t hold back...let yourself escape!

Remember, you don’t need to be a writer, you don’t need to be a reader, heck, you don’t even need to be sane if you don’t want to be. This is a fun game all about you so don’t be shy, don’t be a lurker, just dive in and...

Note: Anyone can play but don’t forget to include your name! Without a name you can’t be put into the draw for the prize wheel gift!

I Wasn't Exagerating

I've mentioned my sports-aholic husband before and now I'd like to give you an example to prove I wasn't just making it up. I'm sure there are far worse out there but this is what I have to put up with LOL.

This is my little area, I call an office:

(I will admit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stuff on the right as mine--Go Bucs! But don't worry, that's all, I haven't been fully brought over to the dark side)

This is the rest of the room behind me:

See, I wasn't kidding.

The reason I put up with it all (other than I kinda like the guy) is because as long as I don't turn around, this is the view I see when I work:

Big difference eh? And in the winter/early spring, you can actually see Lake Ontario between the trees.

We took the boys to the movies this past weekend to see Over The Hedge. It was funny and cute but I've got a pet peeve about movie theatres.

Why are they always so bloody cold!

Seriously, it doesn't matter if it is the height of summer or the middle of winter. The theatre is always absolutely freezing inside. I figured last weekend should have been nice because it's just starting to warm up around here so airconditioners shouldn't be on just yet, you know what I mean. Nope. Wrong.

Like I said, I liked the movie but my teeth were chattering all the way through. I even convinced my youngest he would see better if he sat on Mommy's lap, just so I'd have the extra body heat.

Farmer Brown, He Had a Dog...

Warning, gushing mother moment.

My son's kindergarten class hosted the school's assembly today and OMG was he cute! He was a duck. They did little skits and songs about Farms. He went up to introduce things five different times even though I only had one card with a simple line for him to learn. Later, when I told him how proud I was and surprised that he had so many lines he didn't tell me about, he said, "Sometimes people help other people." Aparently, some children didn't want to go up on stage (I swear I thought he would be one of them) so he said their lines for them. My heart was so full!

Yay Me.

Two quick and cool things.

a) Beside my profile you will notice that I now have a web-site set up thanks to a little info from April. It will do nicely until I can afford to get my own domain name.

and
b) Check that meter over there...I just topped the 30K mark.

Episode #3: And the winner is...

First, let me start by saying I’m tickled—or should I say milked—to have a comment about the game show by one of those blogging bovine editors, CrabbyCows. #1 had this to say about ESCAPE the Mondayn:

What a crazy assed game!

Fabulous!

Thank you #1 for dropping by!

Okay, on to the fun stuff. Here we go, throwing the names into the red plastic fireman's hat. Short producer boy is going to pick a name.

And the winner of this week's episode is Karen Dindia! Congratulations. Send me an email (on the profile page) for your snail mail and I'll get your Spring Letter Writing Set in the mail!

I'd like to send out a huge thank you to all the other contestants. This game is nothing without you! Our studio happily takes any viewers comments on requests for guest celebrities or just to let us know what you think of the show. Don't forget to join us again next week for another brand new episode of...

Episode #3: ESCAPE the Mondayn

Hello and welcome to another episode of ESCAPE The Mondayn, a weekly game show found only on the Sensibly Insane Channel. A simple game where I give you an escape from the mundane day you might be having and all you have to do is tell me what happens next for a chance to win a gift from our prize wheel!

I’m your host Stacy Holmes. In honour of our theme for this episode, I'm wearing a replica of Rosemary Clooney's gown from one of my all time favorite movies, White Christmas. In this scene she sings the haunting song, Love, You Done Me Wrong, our theme for today.

And what an exciting show it will be! We have a special requested celebrity guest with us. All the way from Africa, please put your hands together for...Brad Pitt.

Hello ladies, Stacy.

Hiya Brad, we’re very glad you could join us especially considering our theme is Love, You Done Me Wrong. You've had enough media exposure in the past year to know what that means.

**smiles sheepishly** You could say that.

Okay then, I see your shirt is off...**slides a smile to the audience**...just the way we like our guest spinners.

Always willing to oblige.

I just bet you are. **blinks back from an overlong stare at the sun-kissed chest** Uh, okay, great, lets begin. Reach up one of those golden arms, Brad, and give us a spin.

All right then....tickety-tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety....tickety...tick.

And what is the prize one lucky contestant will win from our random draw after today's episode?

It's a Spring Letter Writing Set.

A perfect prize for our theme today. Just in case you have to write any Dear John...or Dear Jen...letters.

Ready everyone? Here we go...

Today’s escape has you at the local carnival. The Heavenly scent of cotton candy, funnel cake, and caramel corn is all around. You cast your glance to a couple hunky carni workers when an interesting sign catches your eye on top of a rich indigo striped tent, Love, You Done Me Wrong...Don't let them get away with it! You pause for a moment, smile slyly but dismiss the whole thing. Yet, before you can take your next step, you are jostled by a crowd of rowdy teens and pushed into the tent....FREEZE.

Let yourself dream, let yourself escape and tell me what happens next. What...or who is in the tent? What do you do?.

Little Black Book

Okay, so it's actually pink with a big flower on it but Little Pink Book With Flower didn't really cut it for me as a title.

Without even realizing it, until I looked something up this morning, my little pink book with flower from the dollar store has grown quite a bit. With hot guy numbers? I wish! Nope, this has writing info in it (like you couldn't guess that LOL). Edges of sticky notes are titled for tabs dividing the pages with everything from blogging ideas, to story titles (I often come up with a story from the title alone), to story ideas I'd sometime like to write about, to a page recording my current word count progress. All jammed into the little pink book with flower (okay, the title is starting to grow on me). There is also a four part section for the writers (LOL) of the Escape the Mondayn game show, an Interesting Characters page where I jot down well, interesting characters I'd like to throw in a book for fun (the latest is a streaker--this came from a story my husband told me the other night of an aquaintence who decided to streak about a kilometre through town at 3am the other morning, true story, how could I not adapt it sometime?) and a page at the back for the technical incompitant in me who some days can't remember the basics.

So this little pink book with flower is now, in truth, little fat pink book with flower. Somewhere along the way I got organized...how the heck did that happen?

Anybody else have a little fat pink book with flowers (had to get it in one more time) or a little black, blue, purple, fishy, tartan, lightening, zebra, cow patch (have on of those too), Mickey Mouse, floral, naked man, green, yellow, girly-girl, Garfield, neon,or smiley-face book?

Old Beaus...Throwbacks or Characters in the Making?

Johnathan Savage

Don't you just love that name? It's strong, it's masculaine...we were sixteen and I was head over heels. Hair so dark it shown in that blue-black type colour, crystal blue eyes, and a jaw line just waiting for him to grow into. And could he slow dance...whoa! We met on a band trip (I know, I sound like the American Pie movies) so we spent a week in his hometown and then they came back for a week to ours. One whole yearbook is dedicated to messages of him.

Alas, it was not to be. I used to pine for the what if's until I found my real soul-mate. Now Johnathan's just a pleasant memory that brings a smile to my lips.

I plan to put him in one of my books, he's perfect hero material (at least the image my memory has expanded him into). I should be able to get away with it too because I seriously doubt he even remembers me.

Is there any old ghosts in your closets that would make a good character some day?

The Printing of a Book

This is sooooo cool, you've got to check it out.

Mills and Boone Medical Romance author, Fiona Lowe, went to a printing plant and actually watched her book being printed. How many authors get to do that? She has a great run-down and pictures to go with it on her web pageThe Printing of a Book.

As for me, if you will cast your eyes to the right, you will notice that I hit the 20k mark yesterday WOOHOO!
